How to Make Fajita Veggies

Preparing peppers and onions for fajitas is easy and adds a deliciously savory and sweet flavor to your dish. Here is a brief overview of how these delicious veggies come together. For the full recipe including all measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  1. Prepare the peppers. Wash the peppers and use a sharp knife to cut the peppers in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and membranes from the inside of the peppers, then slice them into thin strips, about ¼ inch wide.
  2. Slice the onion. Peel the onion and cut off the ends. Cut the onion in half from root to tip, then slice each half into thin strips, similar in size to the pepper strips.
  3. Cook the vegetables. Add the veggies to a hot skillet with butter and sprinkle the peppers and onions with salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Sauté for 12-15 minutes, or until vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized.
  4. Serve and enjoy! Once the peppers and onions are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet and transfer them to a serving dish. They are now ready to be served alongside your favorite protein for delicious fajitas!

Choosing Vegetables For Fajitas

Choose a variety of colorful bell peppers, such as red, green, and yellow, for added flavor and visual appeal. I love the flavor that a sweet yellow onion adds. You could also add mushrooms.

Seasoning For Fajita Veggies

Skip the fajita seasoning packet for this recipe. By combining salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce, the vegetables get the perfect amount of savory flavor. The natural flavors of the veggies are enhanced and the slightly caramelized result is perfect.
